Casino Investigation Approaching Conclusion at Two Kings

The Two Kings Casino, situated on Catawba tribal territory, has been the subject of an ongoing investigation under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA). The casino, which opened its temporary doors on July 1, 2021, with 500 slot machines, has since expanded to 1,000 slots and added a 24-hour sportsbook in September 2022.

The temporary casino, located in South Carolina, also boasts 30 betting kiosks. As the Catawba Tribe constructs their permanent casino resort, the focus remains on the investigation, which is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The crux of the investigation revolves around the management agreement between the Two Kings Casino and King Mountain Sky Boat Partners LLC, which has raised questions about improper management control provisions, a violation of IGRA restrictions.

If the Catawba Tribe is found to have breached any regulations during the investigation, it will face appropriate penalties. However, the tribe has assured that the new casino project will adhere to all regulations to ensure compliance.

The permanent Two Kings Casino Resort, slated to open in the future, will be a significant addition to the community, providing employment opportunities for locals. The resort will feature a 400-room hotel, a casino floor with 4,300 slot machines and 100 table games, multiple restaurants, bars, and parking facilities.

The IGRA, in place to ensure the safety of tribes and prevent organized crime or corruption in gaming operations, will oversee the permanent casino's operations. The aim of the investigation is to determine if the Catawba Tribe has a proprietary interest in the Two Kings Casino.

Once the investigation is concluded, construction of the new casino will commence. The new casino is expected to contribute positively to the state's tax revenue, offering additional venues for casino fans and tourists to visit.

The Two Kings Casino, with its planned 4,300 slot machines and 100 table games, is set to be a part of the growing casino culture when the permanent casino-resort opens. This expansion is expected to provide ample employment opportunities for the local community and potentially boost the state's tax revenue. However, the ongoing casinos-and-gambling investigation under the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act (IGRA) might impact the outcome of the project, as questions have been raised about improper management control provisions that could violate IGRA restrictions. Certainly, the fate of the Two Kings Casino remains closely tied to the resolution of this investigation, which is focusing on determining if the Catawba Tribe has a proprietary interest in the casino, as regulated by the IGRA.
