Delaware Park Casino Undergoes Major Renovation and Expansion

Delaware Park Casino, located near Wilmington, has undergone a significant transformation following a year-long redevelopment. The casino, now owned by Twin River Worldwide Holdings, Inc., has received a modern makeover, aiming to provide a more enjoyable gaming experience for its patrons.

Twin River Worldwide Holdings, Inc., a company that manages several casinos and horse racing facilities, acquired Delaware Park Casino for $90 million in the fall of 2021. The company, which also owns and operates casinos in Rhode Island, Mississippi, and other states, has been actively investing in redevelopment and operating plans to increase net cash flow from its properties.

The renovated casino features a modernized gaming floor, boasting 1,500 latest slot machines and about 400 popular machines for older gamblers. In addition, the number of table games has increased to 34. A dedicated "Link Lounge" has 49 popular games from Aristocrat Gaming. The high-limit slot room and a high-limit table pit have also been introduced, catering to the casino's more affluent clientele.

New dining options are now available, with Rooney's, a longtime staple at Delaware Park, having been upgraded with new menu options. A brisket cheesesteak at Rooney's has become a patron favorite since being added to the menu this month. R Bar, an upscale bar adjacent to the high-limit slot room, offers seasonal hand-crafted cocktails and bar-top slots. A new pan-Asian, quick-service noodle bar, Foo Noodle, has also been added to the casino's dining options.

The Delaware Lottery manages the central VLT system for the three casinos, retaining approximately 43% of each VLT machine's gross revenue, while the casino receives the remaining 57%. In the 2022 fiscal year (July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023), Delaware Park Casino won about $414.3 million on slots and $53.7 million on table games, making it the richest of the three casinos, with its slots accounting for $163.2 million of the slot win and its tables winning $24.5 million.

Despite extensive research, no detailed historical ownership or development history could be found for Delaware Park Casino beyond distant, unrelated references. However, the casino's future looks promising as Twin River Worldwide Holdings, Inc. continues to invest in its properties to create long-term shareholder value and earnings growth.
